3 years ago their average age was = 27 years
At present their average age = ( 27 + 3) = 30 years
At present the summation of their age = 30×3 = 90 years
Again,
5 years ago, the average age of child and wife was = 20 years
At present their average age = 20 + 5 = 25 years.
At present the summation of their age = 25×2 = 50 years
So, at present the husbands age = 90 - 50 = 40 years
